Our Services

Everything required to convert your photos from being rarely seen prints or slides fading in a forgotten drawer, to being a proud part of your digital photo library, to be displayed and enjoyed on your screen whenever you want.

Film Scanning

Nikon ED5000

With a density range of 4.8, this high-resolution professional film scanner, which uses the infrared channel to eliminate dust and scratches, is the flagship of Nikon’s range of compact scanners. In fact no manufacturer has produced an equivalent system for automatically scanning, and simultaneously cleaning and restoring, slides and negatives.

Unmounted negative strips can be fed into the film strip adaptor and batch scanned to produce a cleaned final positive image, which in many cases looks better than the print ever did.

Flatbed Scanning

Epson 4490 Photo

Our dedicated flatbed photo scanner has a density range of 3.4, with tools for cleaning and improving scanned images from prints. It also has attachments allowing backlit scanning of medium format slides and negatives.

The optical resolution is 4800 x 9600 meaning that all details from any photographic material can be faithfully captured.

Slide Scanning

Nikon SF-210

Our Nikon SF-210 slide feeder allows 40 to 50 slides to be batch scanned automatically, using the Nikon 5000ED scanner (see above). Different speed vs. quality settings can be used to find the “sweet spot” in terms of cost and results.

Our batch slide-scanning system has been used to successfully scan over 10,000 slides, with different film and slide mount types.

Customised Digital Restoration

Photoshop CS

Bringing the scanned images into Adobe Photoshop, we use our own automated “Actions” to crop and straighten each image, and check for proper contrast and colour balance, based on the original film type and possible fading.

Depending on the level of work required, we can make additional customised improvements to each image, using Photoshop’s powerful tools to enhance colour saturation, clean any remaining imperfections, or make good the effects of physical damage to the original material.

Photo Organisation

Adobe Bridge

Most people have trouble organising their digital images – especially given how many photos are taken nowadays. Trying to find a given image in your collection, to show someone, can be a major challenge.

We can help!

Adobe Bridge simultaneously displays the photos in each folder, and allows them to be quickly tagged with custom keywords that relate to their content (for example: location name, people’s names, activity type…). This can be done either individually or in batches. The keywords allows each photo to be quickly found later, using a search based on the tag.

Adobe Bridge also allows easy batch renaming of the photo files – another thing which can aid with their organisation. File dates can be set back to the date when the photo was taken – this is particularly useful in the case of the images which we provide from scanning, which will initially have the scanned date.

Photos from phones and digital cameras can be organised using the large amount of hidden meta data embedded in the file, which can be read by Adobe Bridge, and used as a sorting criteria.
